[OC] Which front offices and agents are the 3 major newsbreakers connected to? I went through 6000+ tweets to find out!

If this sounds somewhat familiar, that's because I did a 2019-2020 version and posted it back in March.
In terms of changes from that post:
TL;DR
Tracked tweets of Woj, Shams and Haynes from 2018-2020 to see whether any of them report on a certain team or a certain agent's players more than their counterparts. Here is the main graph concerning a reporter's percentage of tweets per team separated into three periods (2019 season, 2020 offseason, 2020 season). Here is a separate graph with the Lakers and Warriors, because Haynes's percentages would skew the first graph.

During times like the NBA trade deadline or the lifting of the NBA free-agency moratorium, it’s not uncommon to see Twitter replies to (or Reddit comments about) star reporters reference their performance relative to others.
Woj is the preeminent scoop hound, but he is also notorious for writing hit pieces on LeBron (sources say it’s been widely rumoured that the reason for these is that Woj has always been unable to place a reliable source in LeBron’s camp). On the other end of the spectrum, it has been revealed that in exchange for exclusive intel on league memos and Pistons dealings, Woj wrote puff pieces on then-GM Joe Dumars (see above Kevin Draper link). Last summer, Woj was accused of being a Clippers shill on this very discussion board for noticeably driving the Kawhi Leonard free agency conversation towards the team.
This is the reason I undertook this project: to see whether some reporters have more sources in certain teams (and certain agencies) than other reporters.
First I’ll explain the methodology, then present the data with some initial comments.

Methodology

To make this manageable on myself, I limited myself to tracking the 3 major national reporters: Shams Charania of the Athletic, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports and the aforementioned Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The time period I initially tracked for was from January 1, 2020 to the end of the regular season March, but after finding a Twitter scraping tool on GitHub called Twint, I was able to easily retrieve all tweets since September 27, 2018. However, a month ago, Twitter closed their old API endpoints, and Twint ceased to work. I used vicinitas.io but the data loading became more time-consuming. Therefore, the tweets are up to the date of October 15 2020.
How I determined information was by manually parsing text tweets by the reporter (no retweets):
Now, I didn’t take every single text tweet:
Next, I had to assign possible teams to each tweet:
With all the methodology out of the way, here’s the data! (Here’s a link to a full Google Sheet)

Teams

Here's a graph of number of tweets per team per period, with the colours denoting reporter.
On a quick glance, here's which teams saw a significant period-over-period increase in number of tweets:
And here's which teams saw decreases over a period-by-period basis:
The problem with just using number of tweets is that it's not close on totals between Haynes vs. Woj or Shams. Here's a graph showing total number of tweets in each period for all three reporters. Haynes's most reported period doesn't even stack up to the least reported period of Woj or Shams.
Instead, let's look at percentage of tweets per team per period.
Now, you'll notice that there's two teams missing from the above graph: the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers. Here's the graphs for those two teams. As you can see, they would skew the previous graph far too much. During the 2019 NBA season, 27% of Chris Haynes's qualifying tweets could be possibly linked to the Warriors, and 14% of his qualifying tweets could be possibly linked to the Lakers.

Agents

Here's the top 10 agents in terms of number of potential tweets concerning their clients.
Agent Haynes Shams Woj Total
Rich Paul 15 28 24 67
Mark Bartelstein 4 16 30 50
Jeff Schwartz 3 10 25 38
Bill Duffy 2 13 14 29
Leon Rose 1 12 15 28
Aaron Mintz 2 9 15 26
Juan Perez 5 10 8 23
Aaron Goodwin 11 8 1 20
Steven Heumann 1 6 12 19
Sam Permut 1 13 5 19
Woj has the most tweets directly connected to agents by far. It wasn't uncommon to see "Player X signs deal with Team Y, Agent Z of Agency F tells ESPN." The agents that go to Woj (and some of their top clients):
One thing I found very intriguing: 15/16 of tweets concerning an Aaron Turner client were reported on by Shams. Turner is the head of Verus Basketball, whose clients include Terry Rozier, Victor Oladipo and Kevin Knox. Shams also reported more than 50% of news relating to clients of Sam Permut of Roc Nation. Permut is the current agent of Kyrie Irving, after Irving fired Jeff Wechsler near the beginning of the 2019 offseason. Permut also reps the Morris brothers and Trey Burke.
As for Chris Haynes, he doesn't really do much agent news (at least not at the level of Woj and Shams). However, he reported more than 50% of news relating to clients of Aaron Goodwin of Goodwin Sports Management, who reps Damian Lillard and DeMar DeRozan.
Here are the top 10 free agents from Forbes, along with their agent and who I predict will be the first/only one to break the news.
Player Agent Most Likely Reporter
Anthony Davis Rich Paul Too close to call, leaning Shams
Brandon Ingram Jeff Schwartz Woj
DeMar DeRozan Aaron Goodwin Haynes
Fred VanVleet Brian Jungreis Limited data
Andre Drummond Jeff Schwartz Woj
Montrezl Harrell Rich Paul Too close to call, leaning Shams
Gordon Hayward Mark Bartelstein Woj
Danilo Gallinari Michael Tellem Woj
Bogdan Bogdanovic Alexander Raskovic, Jason Ranne Limited data, but part of Wasserman, whose players are predominantly reported on by Woj
Davis Bertans Arturs Kalnitis Limited data
Thanks for reading! As always with this type of work, human error is not completely eliminated. If you think a tweet was mistakenly removed, feel free to drop me a line and I’ll try to explain my thought process on that specific tweet! Hope y’all enjoyed the research!

PsychoMarket Recap - Thursday, October 8, 2020
Stocks rose again today, extending yesterday’s frankly unexpected gains, with the major benchmarks opening at their highest levels in about a month. Market participants digested a new round of jobless claims, dimming hopes of stimulus, even for stand-alone bills, and progress in Covid-19 therapeutics following Pres. Trump’s discharge from the hospital.
The Nasdaq (QQQ) finished the day 0.54% up. The S&P (SPY) led the day, up 0.85% and the Dow (DIA) finished 0.48% up.
Today, the Labor Department released their weekly jobless claims report. There were 840,000 additional first-time jobless claims this week, slightly above the 820,000 prediction of analysts. While 840,000 is the lowest level since March, jobless claims have stagnated the past month, a sign of slowing economic recovery. Continuing claims, which are the number of people who have already filed an initial claim and who have experienced a week of unemployment and then filed a continued claim to claim benefits for that week of unemployment, fell below 11 million, dropping almost 1 million compared to the week before. Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics said, “The decline in continuing claims is welcome, but initial claims offer a better read on the real-time state of the labor market, and the downward trend has stalled, more or less.”
According to CNBC, there are still 25.5 million workers claiming some form of unemployment benefits, according to totals through Sept. 19. More than half that total, or about 13.4 million, comes from those collecting under pandemic-related programs set up for those who normally wouldn’t be eligible, showing the toll the pandemic has put on the labor market.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi further curbed expectations that any form of stimulus will be unleashed before the November election. Today, in response to a bill designed to provide relief to the airline industry, Pelosi said, “There is no stand-alone bill without a bigger bill.” In other words, she opposes passing smaller, stand-alone stimulus bills in the absence of more comprehensive measures. Yesterday, after calling for his representatives to stop negotiations for overarching stimulus, Pres. Trump signaled he would support a smaller, targeted bill. In response to Trump’s recent tweets about stimulus, Ed Mills, policy analyst at Raymond James said, “It’s been the question of the day, as to why we got the tweets we got over the last 24 hours, the market reaction we got into [Tuesday’s] close, and then the rally.” Needless to say, the current market is hyper-responsive to the comments of Trump and other top officials.
Shares of Regeneron (REGN) jumped after the drugmaker said it had submitted a request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use authorization of its Covid-19 antibody treatment, which had been taken by President Donald Trump after his Covid-19 diagnosis. In a video on Twitter today, Pres. Trump openly endorsed the move saying “I took this medicine [during his stay at Walter Reed Hospital] and it was incredible.”
In other nice news, the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced that South Korea’s trade minister and the former Nigerian finance minister are the two finalists in the race to become the next director-general. This is the first time a woman will occupy the position of top leader in this organization.

End of day summary - 09/11

The Dow rose 131.06, or 0.48%, to 27,665.64, the Nasdaq lost 66.05, or 0.60%, to 10,853.55, and the S&P 500 advanced 1.78, or 0.05%, to 3,340.97.
Traders at /thewallstreet cheered as volatility returned to the stock market.
The major averages finished Friday's trading in mixed fashion, as dip buyers provided support for the Dow and the continued tech selloff made the Nasdaq the laggard once again. The chances for another round of fiscal stimulus ahead of the election were hurt yesterday after Democrats stopped the passage of the "skinny" GOP package, but the U.S. economy looks poised for a strong rebound in Q3, corporate earnings continue to largely overshoot pessimistic forecasts and the Fed remains "all in," leaving investors to mull the cross-currents.
Similar to the days before, today's price action was technically-oriented given the absence of market-moving news and the losses in stocks like AAPL, -1.3%, AMZN, -1.9%, and MSFT, -0.7% on no specific corporate news. Apple shares fell 7.4% this week.
The difference today was that their losses were offset by relative strength in the cyclical sectors, namely industrials (+1.4%), materials (+1.3%), and financials (+0.8%). Still, when Apple and Amazon are down more than 1.0%, there must be more winners than losers to make a meaningful difference.
There were more of the latter on Friday, as declining issues outpaced advancing issues at the NYSE and Nasdaq. The information technology (-0.8%), consumer discretionary (-0.3%), and communication services (-0.3%) sectors ended the day in negative territory due to their exposure to the mega-cap stocks.
Interestingly, the S&P 500 was down as much as 0.9% intraday and fell below its 50-day moving average (3322). A broad rebound in the afternoon, however, helped the benchmark index turn positive and close above the key technical level.
In TikTok news, President Trump said that the deadline established for China's ByteDance to sell video-sharing service TikTok's U.S. operations would not be extended, Reuters reported. "It'll either be closed up or they'll sell it," the president told reporters, adding, "There will be no extension of the TikTok deadline." MSFT in partnership with WMT and Oracle have been seen as the leading suitors to purchase TikTok's operations in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Subsequently, Reuters reported that Chinese officials are so opposed to a forced sale of TikTok's U.S. operations that they would prefer to see the app shut down in the U.S. over that conclusion. Reuters noted that China was willing, if needed, to use revisions it made to a technology exports list on Aug. 28 to delay any deal reached by ByteDance.
Electric vehicle hopeful NKLA continued its fight this morning with a short-seller, which now appears to be "short-sellers." Nikola issued a statement in response to claims made about the company by activist short-seller Hindenburg Research yesterday, calling the firm's report "a hit job for short sale profit driven by greed." Nikola, which added that it has "nothing to hide and we will refute these allegations," announced that it has retained law firm Kirkland & Ellis to evaluate potential legal recourse and intends to bring the actions of the short-seller, together with evidence and documentation, to the attention of the SEC. Following the company's press release regarding the response, Andrew Left's Citron Research said via Twitter, "Congrats to Hindenburg for exposing what appears to be a total fraud with $NKLA. Citron will cover half of all legal expenses. You can't SLAPP the truth away. Explains why Milton sold at $10 this June $NKLA response warrants an SEC investigation to maintain integrity of EV mkt." After having dropped 11% on Thursday, Nikola shares fell a further 14.5%.
Meanwhile, CNBC reported that AAPL has updated its App Store guidelines ahead of the release of iOS 14, with one major revision relating to game streaming services. The tech giant said in its revised guidelines that services such as Google Stadia (GOOG) and Microsoft xCloud are explicitly permitted, though under the condition that games offered in the service must be downloaded directly from the App Store, not from an all-in-one app.
Among the noteworthy gainers was Shares of ORCL, which was in focus after the company reported what Barclays analyst Raimo Lenschow called a "surprisingly strong beat" and growth on licenses despite the continued macro uncertainty. NOG, which rose 1.3% after acquiring interests in the Delaware Basin and raising Q3 production guidance. Also higher was CX, which gained 8.3% in New York after Morgan Stanley analyst Nikolaj Lippmann upgraded the stock to Overweight from Equal Weight.
Among the notable losers was AMRS, which dropped 25.8% after responding to a lawsuit filed by Lavvan against the company for patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation. Also lower was CHWY, which declined 9.8% after reporting some cats have tried to take over the company with whiteclaws.
Despite a blowout fiscal Q4 report, PTON were 4.2% lower following last night's from the fitness products and services provider.
Elsewhere stocks were higher, with the Shanghai composite up 0.79% to around 3,260.35 while the Shenzhen component rose 1.57% to about 12,942.95. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index advanced 0.78% to end its trading day at 24,503.31.

Currency

The U.S. Dollar Index (93.35, +0.01, unch) reclaimed its overnight loss, gaining 0.7% for the week.

Treasury

U.S. Treasuries ended the abbreviated week with modest gains across the curve. The cash session started with some light selling for the second day in a row, but the market recovered from the early dip with ease.

Commodity

Gold slipped on Friday on a lack of further stimulus from the European Central Bank and the U.S. government, but for the week the safe-haven metal was set to end higher. Crude remained on track for a second weekly drop as investors expected a global glut to persist if demand weakens further with rising COVID-19 cases in some countries.

Crypto

Bitcoin is struggling to gather upside traction despite repeated defense of support at $10,000. The top cryptocurrency’s sell-off from the August high of $12,476 looks to have come to a halt near $10,000 over the past seven days.

YTD

  • FAAMG + some penny stocks +21.0% YTD
  • Spoos +3.4% YTD
  • Old man -3.1% YTD
  • Russy -10.3% YTD

CPI

Total CPI increased 0.4% m/m while core CPI, which excludes food and energy, also rose 0.4%. Those gains left total CPI up 1.3% yyr and core CPI up 1.7% yyr.
The key takeaway from the report, which featured the largest increase in the index for used cars and trucks (+5.4%) since March 1969, is that the increase in the all items index was broad-based; nonetheless, annual inflation rates are still running well below 2.0%, so there is still more noise than bothersome policy signal in the August report.

Price increase drives 98% of Bitcoin holders into a state of profit.

Price increase drives 98% of Bitcoin holders into a state of profit.
by Mickael Mosse
The price of bitcoin jumped significantly on Wednesday after the payment processor Paypal announced cryptocurrency support. The jump in value has pushed a large number of bitcoin holders into a state of profit, according to Glassnode “percent of UTXOs in profit” statistics. Based on the current data, 98% of all bitcoin UTXOs are in a state of profit touching levels previously recorded three years ago in December 2017.
The price of bitcoin (BTC) closed at a high at $13,184 per coin on Wednesday, October 21 following the announcement from Paypal. During the evening trading sessions, the onchain research and analysis firm Glassnode tweeted about the number of bitcoin unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) in profit. A UTXO refers to the amount of bitcoin someone holds that has not been spent and is simply stored in a bitcoin wallet.
“98% of all bitcoin UTXOs are currently in a state of profit,” Glassnode tweeted. “A level not seen since Dec 2017, and typical in previous BTC bull markets.”

https://preview.redd.it/1dtqk311dvu51.png?width=1450&format=png&auto=webp&s=67b10a88f9891ade45f459dcf03fc70bad23b5c9
Since then the price has dropped a hair but the price of bitcoin (BTC) is still up 4.3% over the last seven days. Long term holders have seen a 72.4% increase during the last 12 months, 34.9% during the last 90-days and 22% against the 30-day span. Glassnode’s onchain stats report, details that the subindex measuring investor “sentiment” increased ending the week “at 70 points.”
A number of crypto analysts and traders believe that bitcoin’s current price range is a key indicator for moving forward. Moreover, BTC’s dominance level, it’s market cap measured against all 7,000+ crypto assets, has risen to 63.2%. The senior financial analyst at Fxpro, Alex Kuptsikevich, believes bitcoin is testing crucial macro levels.
“At current levels, Bitcoin is testing cyclical highs,” Kuptsikevich wrote in a note to investors. “Since the beginning of 2018, it has not been able to gain a foothold at levels above $12,000. It is equally important that at new highs, indicators like the RSI are far from the overbought condition, indicating significant potential for further growth. Closing the week above $12,800 would be the highest level in two and a half years, opening a direct path of growth to the historic highs of $20,000 that we saw three years ago.”
Kuptsikevich added:
Bitcoin breaking through two round levels of $12k and $13k opens doors for further growth. The current price dynamics led the coin to re-test the peak of july 2019, which at that time was the highest point of the rally. Nowadays, purchases take place against the background of confidence that bitcoin has more and more supporters in the traditional financial world.
Eric Demuth, cofounder and CEO of Bitpanda believes that cryptocurrencies, in general, started to “establish themselves as a trusted asset class of the worldwide financial market such as gold and stocks.” Demuth thinks that the Paypal support announced on Wednesday is just the start, as he believes more large players will be joining the crypto party.
“2020 has shown that crypto is here to stay,” Demuth explained. “There has been a huge inflow of institutional capital as well as record numbers of new retail customers adopting cryptocurrencies. I am certain we will see more big players like Paypal joining the party in 2021.”

Digest #45. 🚨 Man proposes, God disposes

Digest #45. 🚨 Man proposes, God disposes
McAfee is arrested; Bitcoin can reach $100,000. Metamask celebrates 1 million users, and gold loses to BTC again. New Day, New Digest.

🚨 Man proposes, God disposes

Today, in 1826, the first U.S. railroad was opened in Massachusetts. Since then, humanity has witnessed rapid growth in both industry and economic activity. But the industrial revolution has its drawbacks. Among many others, such development has led to increased levels of financial inequality. About 200 years later, cryptocurrencies emerged, and they are designed to help balance the global financial situation. So let's check out another day in crypto news - we strongly encourage you not to miss this ride! 🎢
John McAfee is arrested
FREE MCAFEE 😤
https://preview.redd.it/46dhqcv05qr51.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=d341d2943f72e2439c4c10613b3e571a42c59bc6
The SEC and the U.S. Department of Justice filed a case against John MacAfee for shilling ICOs between 2017 and 2018/ John just forgot to tell you guys that he was profiting from this activity. And taxes, of course, he forgot to pay taxes.
McAfee received about $11.6 million in BTC and ETH and another $11.5 million in projects' tokens. In total, he received $23 million for shilling projects that collected $41 million.
On Monday, SEC and DOJ raised questions, and on Tuesday night, McAfee and his guard were already arrested in Spain. John will be extradited to the USA and serve up to 5 years if his guilt is proved.
So what?
Is there a competition between the regulators to take down the biggest crypto-enthusiast in the USA?!
MacAfee is an interesting character, and he really deserves attention.
Of course, the attention of the public, not police... although we will find out soon. Anyway, why did someone decide to give a [email protected] about crypto? Maybe they should clean up the banking sector first?!
You should wipe the dust in the room only when there is no garbage in the hallway. Get This Metaphor!

How much will Bitcoin cost in 2025?
You will be shocked! 🤓

https://preview.redd.it/fi8j8sd65qr51.png?width=759&format=png&auto=webp&s=0146932370bd898916f49d78dc3333bf18ad21c5
Bloomberg analysts wrote in a new report that the price of Bitcoin over the next four years might repeat the observed scenario from 2016 to 2020.
Analysts recalled that over the past four years, Bitcoin has risen from $1,000 to $10,000. And if the trend repeats, the BTC price may rise to $100,000 by the end of 2025.
The key factor of future growth will be Bitcoin's scarcity, because at the moment, the miners have already produced 88% of all bitcoins, and the rest will take another 120 years. The fact that Bitcoin becomes a "digital substitute for gold" also plays an important role. And, of course, Bitcoin-ETF, which will make it easier for large funds' managers and private investors to buy bitcoin, as ETF did for gold in 2004. The launch of Bitcoin-ETF is only a matter of time, Bloomberg analysts say.
So what?
It's great to make money, of course, but personally, we still care more about the mass adoption. We would like to order pizza via Uber eats and pay with, say USDT, then go out to a cyber street and fly the Tesla to meet friends.
Cyberpunk we deserved!

Best year for gold
And what about BTC?

https://preview.redd.it/1c3sc96c5qr51.jpg?width=1100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cafeac4e5cbf207b39e98d72ddb06acc4eff92c
$1 invested in Bitcoin on October 6, 2009 (when the price of BTC was first set), today would bring $13.9 million, and $1 invested in gold would turn into $1.45 (one dollar and forty-five cents, not millions).
So what?
Pirates of the Economic Sea. Where a ship's captain summons BITCOIN and Bitcoin takes over all the assets one by one.
Okay, jokes aside, to change the public consciousness definitively, we need to come up with trinkets of jewelry more beautiful than gold. With Bitcoin logo.
Any ideas?

MetaMask and 1M
10^6 -> ∞ ?

https://preview.redd.it/zc6nqnef5qr51.jpg?width=728&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d141012f782de67c3edd36c2514870ae522364e
MetaMask wallet developers reported in their blog that since May 2019, the number of active wallet users increased by 400% from 264,000 in May 2019 to more than 1 million in October 2020.
Such a significant growth in the number of new users has contributed to the DeFi boom and the launch of a mobile version of a wallet.
So what?
Excellent job, guys! We wish you to break the 10M mark. Let other players break their hearts :D

Who the DeFi leaders are and how to earn on Maker, Compound, Aave, Curve, Synthetix and QDAO DeFi

Who the DeFi leaders are and how to earn on Maker, Compound, Aave, Curve, Synthetix and QDAO DeFi
The DeFi ecosystem has already recreated traditional financial instruments in a new ‘unchained’ decentralized structure. This year, a huge number of DeFi-related projects gained the attention of crypto enthusiasts. The leaders of the race are Maker, Compound, Aave, Curve, Synthetix and QDAO DeFi. These projects provide a significant number of opportunities to earn money. So let’s find out what the DeFi market mood is right now and how you can increase your holdings in 2020.

DeFi market 2020

According to data provider DeFiPulse, the total value locked in USD right now is $6.7 billion. And it is best to check the data regularly because it is growing rapidly.

https://preview.redd.it/2o5jhuly02m51.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=9a4027b15afcfcbc6316aadf508da445b2b0b8f2
For instance, the value was $4.21 billion at the beginning of August 2020. It rose by one third in just 3 weeks.
Taha Zafar, a crypto analyst, shared data that illustrates how DeFi tokens performed within the past 90 days. As you see, they are doing even better than Bitcoin.

https://preview.redd.it/9fqxp3t012m51.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=958b53a5ba71eac4b8e5d3f5b71c5aa4f5fdcc0c

https://preview.redd.it/umw6ffu112m51.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=d39eb0d82e171eff7cafd363039171169240408e
So while the market is soaring, there are already a number of DeFi leaders that stand out among others.
They are:
  • Maker
  • Compound
  • Aave
  • Curve
  • Synthetix
  • QDAO DeFi
Maker remained the one and only serious market player for a long time.
However, 2020 introduced some new figures on this chessboard. Compound competes with Maker in the lending sector and is not yielding its position. At the moment, the Compound credit portfolio is $820 million, when at the beginning of the year, it was $100 million.

With Aave, Curve and Synthetix breaking into the top 10 most successful projects in DeFiPulse and QDAO DeFi being the most promising one, the DeFi market is emerging as a real alternative to the traditional finance sector.
Recently, the DeFi Overview Twitter account posted an illustrative map that demonstrates how fast all the main market players are growing: https://twitter.com/DefiOverview/status/1297829568271642624

While Binance has already listed some DeFi projects like Compound, Synthetix, YFI and Curve, the u/top7ico posted a forecast list of other promising DeFi projects. https://twitter.com/top7ico/status/1297540483913093120

What DeFi projects are aiming to get in TOPs

DeFiPulse is the world’s leading resource for providing its audience with fresh-from-the-oven, comprehensive information concerning DeFi. Here you can find all the latest analytics and rankings for DeFi protocols. Moreover, this resource provides you with a list of the best resources on the topic.
The information is being refreshed every hour. The Total Value Locked is calculated by multiplying the total balance of Ether (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens by their price in USD.
To sum up, it is the most interactive platform that maintains the upper hand and provides you with the freshest information about the DeFi market.
Besides, DeFi Pulse has a handy calculator that shows how much money you can earn by locking specific assets.

https://preview.redd.it/edejp4oa12m51.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=235a1b0364db63e98c700ad3ffbf299976c572a3
The calculator also shows how much you can get in Compound, dYdX and Maker.

The platform offers a full range of services just like any usual bank:
  • yields on digital assets
  • cash loans
  • the purchase of tokenized stocks of popular listed companies (e.g. Google, Facebook, Netflix, etc.).
On top of that, QDAO DeFi has its own native cryptocurrencies: USDQ stablecoin (tied to the US dollar). It is also used on the platform and QDAO. QDAO is a cryptocurrency that provides significant bonuses for Deposits, Crypto Loans and other services inside QDAO DeFi. Additional features such as governance of the ecosystem and fee payments within the ecosystem are in the long-term development roadmap.
QDAO DeFi offers 17 currencies and the interface is user-friendly and convenient.
You can open a Secure Personal QDAO DeFi Account and start earning passive income from the very first day. The interest is paid out daily with no fees.
Users can withdraw funds after they reach the minimum withdrawal amount in a specific cryptocurrency.
You can open a deposit in just a few minutes, click the link to find out how.

What’s next for DeFi projects?

Earning on DeFi platforms is easy and convenient. The major players offer a great variety of services to help you find the best way to trade, mint and stake.
Billionaire Bitcoin bull, Tim Draper says, “The DeFi world is almost as technologically advanced as the dollar and when it is, there will be no one who will want to accept a politically manipulable currency like dollars anymore.”
Will DeFi fully replace all the traditional financial instruments? Opinions are divided. However, it can become the basis of a new digital banking system and return the trust to the financial system.

Cryptomarket lost ground during the weekend — does it matter for the future?

Cryptomarket lost ground during the weekend — does it matter for the future?

https://preview.redd.it/cfxa911ooql51.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f19350bba2c83f257da0c22a29a197d82598633
Crypto markets are currently in slightly volatile stage. Even though there are no significant up and down swings, the past weeks have seen movements from the level of about 12 400 dollars to around 10 000 dollars that we can see now for the biggest cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has dipped even under 10 000 dollars at some exchanges, however according to Coinmarketcap its value still about the biggest current psychological level.
Breaking the bull market trendline
The biggest cryptocurrency might be in for a lot of trouble. Over the weekend, Bitcoin broke 6 months trendline that kept the cryptocurrency in the bull market. However as of now, the line has been broken and also Bitcoin fell out of Head and Shoulders pattern. Breaking both of these patterns does not sound very appealing for near term future for Bitcoin.
So far, the very strong support of 10 000 holds on, but the price is slowly approaching the level. With volumes slowly decreasing, it is only a matter of time when the price dips below the level. The most important question however is, what will the recovery look like. Does Bitcoin have enough buyers to push the price back up or will it stay lower and consolidate to 8 800-dollar level, where many analysts want to see it.
As a recent analysis by Glassnode suggest, there is enough buyers to hold Bitcoin around 10 000-dollar level. According to this data source the number of accumulation addresses rose 2% in recent days to about 513 000. This shows strong support from the community and the willingness to “buy the dip,” which is very common in this field.
On the other hand, Peter Schiff believes that the recent dump of BTC is only a beginning of the longer bear market. This gold bug and Bitcoin critic once again proved that he simply does not see any value in the biggest cryptocurrency. Just few days ago he reacted via Twitter in the feed of Tyler Winklevoss, CEO and Co-founder of Gemini exchange that he believes Bitcoin is about the enter bear market once it dips below 10 000 dollars.
However, he also acknowledged that he was wrong when it comes to BTC. He did not believe at any point in the last year that Bitcoin could climb as high as 12 000 dollars, which he acknowledged in one of the comments to Winklevoss´s post. Yet he also claimed that Bitcoin is about to go south and the likelihood of 10 000 dollars becoming resistance once the price falls below is really high.
Bitcoin is still long term bullish
No matter what the prices will do in the short period of time, the long-term predictions are still very bullish for not only the biggest cryptocurrency, but also for the whole market as such. Of course, traders and investors need to take current prices into account, but that does not mean that after few days or weeks of bearish movement, the whole sector losses its credibility. On contrary, it is in times like this that people should educate themselves more, build valuable network in the cryptoworld and get to know more exciting projects that the whole sector offers.
The unique combination of all-time alertness, most recent information, valuable network, education and much more is what Fun Gram offers. Why Ethereum Problems Make UMI the Flagship Among the New Generation Cryptocurrencies

Why Ethereum Problems Make UMI the Flagship Among the New Generation Cryptocurrencies

https://preview.redd.it/8skuypxp9lj51.jpg?width=1023&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba5a38ba592428f92dc7c1943a780ff127132875
Ethereum cryptocurrency that comes second in terms of capitalization on the crypto market is traditionally seen as fast and profitable. However, over the last few weeks it's had a rough patch. Since early August, the network has had huge queues of transactions pending processing while fees have skyrocketed and surpassed the historical high.
The main issue though is that even fees of a few dollars per transfer don't help get rid of the“traffic jams”. The cause of this is numerous DeFi projects and a huge number of financial pyramids based on the Ethereum platform. Both generate excessive load on the network.
The situation is downright unpleasant, and our users might question whether the UMI network could face a similar challenge? We'd like to assure you it could not. The UMI network is by default protected against these problems — it cannot have “traffic jams”, fees or financial pyramids. But first things first.
How has the Ethereum network ground to a halt?
In its report dated August 4, Arcane Research that provides analysis within the field of cryptocurrency stated that over the previous week the daily size of transaction fees in the Ethereum network has surged up to a record high for over two and a half years. On August 3, the median value #%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%B5%D1%80_%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8F)of the fee amounted to $0.82, with the overall amount of transaction fees totaling $2 mln. However, it only signaled the start of real problems.
Over the next week, fees continued to grow and by August 11 the median fee value almost doubled equaling $1.57. Larry Cermak, an expert at a big analytical and news-making crypto portal The Block, wrote in his August 15 tweet that over a week the total amount of transaction fees in the Ethereum network totaled $34.5 mln, having surpassed its historical high. Meanwhile, in the Bitcoin network that is seen as too expensive the fees were almost four times lower at $9 mln.
The total fee amount paid by cryptocurrency users over a week:
  • Ethereum — $34.5 mln;
  • Bitcoin — $9 mln;
  • Monero — $2,240;
  • Tezos — $1,876;
  • Cardano — $1,615;
  • XRP — $1,138;
  • BSV — $1,102;
  • Stellar — $1,059;
  • Bitcoin Cash — $1,027;
  • UMI — $0. Let's talk about it a little later.

Historical Growth Chart for Ethereum Fees. Source
The existing situation shows that Ethereum is actually not as fast and profitable as commonly cited. Additionally, this could happen to almost any cryptocurrency except UMI that charges no fees whatsoever. We will tell you why.
Why have these problems emerged?
There is nothing unoriginal: the Ethereum network simply can't handle an increased load. Arcane Research analysts consider that a principal cause of this situation is the constantly increasing number of the DeFi ecosystem projects built on the Ethereum blockchain. Their number is growing all the time which causes the overload of the network. As of August 12, the total amount of funds in DeFi applications reached $4.3 billion which is 19.5% higher than that in the past week. At the time of writing this article, the amount surged to $6.21 billion. You can see the current data here. What is the most unpleasant about DeFi protocols is that a lot of them are scam projects.
Which is not the worst part though. There is also another factor that significantly slows down the Ethereum network. There are a lot of pyramid-like projects that are built on the EOS platform and use smart contracts. One of them is SmartWay Forsage, which regularly overloads the network with a large number of transactions, causes traffic jams, and, consequently, leads to increased fees (keep in mind that Ethereum miners choose transactions with a higher commission). Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, revealed his disapproval of the SmartWay Forsage methodology and asked them to "leave and not pollute Ethereum ecology in the future". However, the project is slow to do this — it continues to deceive users.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of scam projects which abounds on the EOS network –– they continually emerge, work for a while, then go down as scams and are replaced with new ones. This never-ending stream of "investment projects" based on the Ponzi scheme overloads the system. This is the reason why Adam Back, a pioneer of the crypto industry and founder of the technology company Blockstream, equated Ethereum with such infamous projects as Onecoin and Bitconnect. Adam Back's solid dig at Ethereum became the subject of much debate among crypto enthusiasts.
Of course, it all doesn't mean that Ethereum is a bad cryptocurrency. On the contrary, it has a lot of advantages over other coins. But all that has happened exposes Ethereum's faults which must be eliminated. The problem is that they may not be fixable. It is far from certain that the developers will be able to get rid of all the defects as the system has huge scalability problems.
The crypto community has to admit that Ethereum, like other first-generation cryptocurrencies, has issues with capacity, fees, and scalability and is gradually becoming obsolete.
2020 is the time for young innovative cryptocurrencies such as UMI.
UMI is the flagship of new-generation cryptocurrencies.
In real fact, any cryptocurrency could face it. Each cryptocurrency charges fees which typically surge when the network is overloaded or the price is going up. Everyone will remember 2017 when in line with price growth and the network's overload Bitcoin transaction fee reached a high of around $40.
But when it comes to UMI, it works the other way round. The UMI network's advantages are high capacity, no fees, and scaling possibilities. It uses the best and fastest crypto industry solutions and excludes all inefficient methods by default. Smart optimization in combination with the Proof-of-Authority technology operating on the master node basis enables almost instant payments.
At the stage of network testing, an incredibly high capacity was achieved:
  • up to 4,369 transactions per second;
  • up to 262,140 transactions per minute;
  • up to 15,728,400 transactions per hour;
  • up to 377,481,600 transactions per day.
Ethereum processes about 20 transactions per second. It means that the UMI network can process transactions that Ethereum processes over a year in 1 to 5 days — and with no fees.
https://preview.redd.it/rwohnov3alj51.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=4329b75c0bd8b7a22276b529f5ca433d17a0874f
The UMI network can process transactions that Ethereum processes over a year in a few days and with no fees. More details
What is more important is that less than 0.001% of the network's overall potential is used now. The UMI network has a lot of reserve capacity and can handle hundreds of thousands of times heavier load. Moreover, with scaling possibilities, UMI can keep up with the times. The UMI code ensures the safe introduction of any upgrades — the network can be easily modified and scaled with cutting edge technology solutions. In other words, traffic jams will never pose a problem for us. UMI will instantly process all transactions, with no fees. Always.

A real-time speedometer displays the number of transactions processed by the UMI network per second. Link
Additionally, unlike Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies, the UMI's staking smart contract prevents possibilities of any pyramid schemes, meaning eliminates their negative influence. Our staking is completely safe and secured against scammers. Read more about this in our article. Any UMI staking structure could work forever. In other words, you can multiply your coins at a rate of up to 40% per month for an indefinitely long period of time.
UMI doesn't inherit the disadvantages of the first-generation cryptocurrencies. This is an innovative, carefully designed network based on state-of-the-art technologies. UMI is an ambitious step toward the future. And we're making it together right now!
Sincerely yours, UMI team

Experts Predict New All-Time High For Bitcoin This Year

Experts Predict New All-Time High For Bitcoin This Year

According To Experts, Bitcoin Still Has A Momentum That Will Allow It To Reach New All-Time Highs
Bitcoin is expected to hit a new all-time high just a day after Christmas, according to the crypto analyst, Vijay Boyapati. The expert claims that Bitcoin would see a massive spike in its price if the digital currency follows the exact same trajectory that it followed after the 2016 halving event.
The “halving” cuts in half the reward Bitcoin miners receive for validating transactions on the blockchain. Bitcoin’s network underwent three halving events, the first one being in 2012. The second event occurred 4 years later – in 2016, while the third halving took place on May 11, 2020.
Source: Ecoinometrics
According to Boyapati, there has been 100 days since the last Bitcoin halving, with current price of the digital currency еqual to 59.4% of the previous all-time high record. The expert also adds “How does this compare to the 2016/17 cycle? If we project % of ATH in 2016 to now, 100 days after halving, Bitcoin was $10,887”, Boyapati wrote on Twitter.
The predictions of the crypto expert are based on the 2016/2017 post-halving price movements of the leader in digital currencies. Also, the analyst noted that if comparing the movements of Bitcoin after the 2016 halving, the price per BTC could be expected to reach around $325,000 by October 2021.
“The peak of the cycle would occur on October 19th, 2021, but we are ahead of schedule right now” Boyapati tweeted.
However, crypto traders saw a short-term price correction, after Bitcoin’s price went above $12,000 on August 17. Just a day after Bitcoin marked a yearly high of $12,359.06, the market saw a steep correction, which drove Bitcoin prices back to $11,769.77, as of press time.
One of the possibilities behind Bitcoin’s correction is the U.S. national bank’s announcement of the continuation of bond-buying and near-zero interest rate policy. The situation drove investors off safe-haven assets like Bitcoin and gold and redirected them into buying USD, which is at its two-year low.
Nevertheless, crypto expert Lark Davis considers that Bitcoin still has the momentum to break above its all-time high record, as long the cryptocurrency stays above its technical indicators.
“Understand that Bitcoin drop by about 24% and still be above the 200-day moving average which means this market is still basically bullish AF”, Davis tweeted.

Yield Farming in DeFi — the Evolution outcome of the Crypto Industry

Yield Farming in DeFi — the Evolution outcome of the Crypto Industry

Yield Farming in DeFi — the Evolution outcome of the Crypto Industry
Yield Farming (income farming) is one of the key trends actively developing in DeFi. Thanks to this earnings strategy, the Compound project has recently taken off, ranking first in terms of the number of user funds blocked in the protocol.
The Yield Farming investment strategy, or income pharming, is to generate income from the placement of cryptocurrencies on various DeFi-platforms for crypto-lending. Before Yield Farming, the main trend in DeFi was conventional cryptocurrency deposits, bringing in 4–10% returns. However, Yield Farming can generate up to 100% annualized income.

Yield Farming is the main driver of the DeFi sector

The number of cryptocurrencies locked in DeFi (Total Value Locked — TVL) is now $2.29 billion. At the same time, over the past month, the capitalization of funds in DeFi has more than doubled, largely due to the popularity of income pharming. At the same time, the top five DeFi protocols attracted $2.1 billion in crypto assets, or 91.7% of the total TVL volume.
• Compound — $690.8 million
• MakerDAO — $644.7 million
• Synthetix — $396 million
• Aave — $192.4 million
• Balancer — $178.2 million
And the total number of users of these projects was about 230,000.
The sharp rise in interest in Yield Farming is associated with one of the new protocols on the market — Compound. Users of this platform can provide loans or take out loans in nine different cryptocurrencies, for which they receive COMP project tokens. With these tokens, Compund users can make decisions about its future development. In other words, conditional “shares” of the Compound project are distributed to those who provide liquidity to the platform, as well as to those who take loans on it. This largely corresponds to the concept of SAFG (“a simple agreement on the possibility of obtaining the right to control in the future”) as a logical development of other principles of distribution of tokens — SAFE and SAFT.

COMP for BAT

Issued daily at 2880 COMP, which is equivalent to $518,688 at a token price of $180.1. Half goes to liquidity providers, half to borrowers. At the same time, distribution is carried out to each of nine markets (BAT, ETH, USDC, USDT, Dai, REP, 0x and Sai) — to everyone who borrows or takes loans from Compound, in proportion to the interest rate, as well as to their payments for interest or income. The higher the rates for a loan or loan, the more COMP tokens are paid.
At the same time, Compound is constantly updating its token distribution rules. So, according to the latest update from July 2, COMP payments begin to be made based not on interest rates, but on the dollar value of the funds in the transaction. This should eventually lead to more use of stablecoins. For them, borrowing rates can be less than 1%, which is ten times less than for the most volatile asset in DeFi — the BAT token.
It is worth noting that until recently, Compound users received the maximum number of COMP tokens for transactions with BAT. As a result, for the period from June 19 to July 2, the volume of transactions with this asset reached $931 million, which exceeded the total turnover of Ethereum and DAI for the same period. However, another change in the rules sharply increased the volumes of DAI and USDC.

Yield Farming: Borrowing Is Better Than Lending

The changes did not affect the main advantage of Compound — the COMP tokens received by users still cover the cost of borrowing in cryptocurrencies. In other words, Compound users find it more profitable to borrow than borrow (as noted, for example, with the Tether stablecoin). Payments of COMP tokens to borrowers look like a cryptocurrency cashback for participation in the platform — this can be viewed as if, for example, American Express bank shared a small share in the share capital with users for each transaction.
This Compound policy has led to a sharp increase in loans, as well as increased income for those providing liquidity, as they also receive COMP tokens for participating in the platform. Moreover, this cashback is a plus to the interest earned on borrowed cryptocurrencies. Moreover, since borrowers receive payments on loans, liquidity providers can use their own assets to borrow more funds. As a result, their income increases and they again provide liquidity to Compound.

Not only Compound

Compound was not the only one that played an important role in popularizing Yield Farming. So, Aave makes it possible to borrow cryptocurrencies at a fixed rate, and then place them in order to generate income. Aave’s fixed rate is usually higher than Compound’s variable, which means Aave gives more income to those who provide crypto loans. There are also liquidity pools, such as Uniswap, which offer large returns (sometimes at 100% annualized rate), but with higher risks.
While the price of СOMP shows a clear downward trend (research of the Delta Exchange platform claims that this token is five times overvalued), Compound is overgrown with competitors. So, on June 22, the COMP token cost $327.82 (on the day of listing on Coinbase Pro, June 23, at the moment the cost even rose to $427), and on July 12 it was already $180.1. The fall of СOMP is noticeable, but it is worth noting that at the beginning of its emission the token cost only $16. Moreover, about 80% of COMP tokens are distributed among the top 10 addresses in Compound, and the volume of tokens in free circulation is $686 million, which corresponds to a free-float indicator of 38%. It is not high, and this will contribute to the strong volatility of COMP.
Against the background of a decrease in the cost of COMP, the Balancer platform, which provides crypto lending services from a pool of various ERC20 tokens, began distributing 145,000 native BAL tokens to liquidity providers every week. These tokens, like COMP, provide the right to participate in the management of the platform. Of the maximum possible issue of BAL 100 million, 65% will go towards payments.

Risks of Yield Farming

Despite the popularity of Yield Farming among DeFi players, this trend is not without its pitfalls. For example, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin continues to criticize DeFi, stating that “interest rates that are significantly higher than you can get when working in the field of traditional finance are either an opportunity for temporary arbitrage or are obtained at the expense of not publicly disclosed risks.”
Indeed, when using Yield Farming, the following risks should be borne in mind:
• Cryptocurrencies can be stolen from the platform they are hosted on.
• The participant may borrow too much funds in relation to the crypto deposit placed by him (trading with high leverage), as a result of which the collateral may be lost.
• The collapse of cryptocurrency rates. This factor can be realized if, for example, it turns out that some stablecoins in reality do not have the declared 1:1 collateral.
• The Compound platform will no longer reward borrowers and lenders with COMP tokens. According to the statements of the project team, the program will operate over the next four years — during this time 42% of the total token emission will be distributed. However, the site has the right to change the rules.
• Systemic risk, within which even small changes in the core principles of Yield Farming can provoke a very strong transformation of this strategy and affect its popularity.
• Scam tokens. Due to the simple asset listing system on the Uniswap site, assets such as a copy of the Balancer token, fake coins of the Curve Finance project, the DYDX token, which can be confused with dYdX, and the Uniswap Community Token, which is not related to the platform itself, appeared on it. As a result, the site issued a warning about an increase in the number of fake ERC20 tokens.

Yield Farming gives hope for the growth of cryptocurrency quotes

But how does Yield Farming affect the crypto market in general? Over the last week of June and the first ten days of July, an additional 2,430 bitcoins were added to Compound, in addition to the 170 already available at that time. The Balancer platform during the same time saw an influx of bitcoins from 126 to 1787. In total, for the implementation of Yield Farming, DeFi protocols are now more than 12,000 BTC. Potentially, an increase in the inflow of bitcoins into this sector of the cryptocurrency market can play a positive role in relation to the dynamics of the growth of quotations of the first cryptocurrency. After all, the growing popularity of Yield Farming supports interest in BTC, which is especially important given that in July, the turnover of this cryptocurrency trade fell by 31% compared to June.
Since most of the DeFi projects are based on the Ethereum blockchain and use the assets of this ecosystem, ether can potentially get an incentive for strong growth. Although the example of XRP and the development of innovations from Ripple shows that such market success is not guaranteed. It is also symbolic that the total capitalization of ERC20 tokens has reached $33 billion, exceeding the total capitalization of ether ($26.6 billion). Messari analyst Ryan Watkins, commenting on this data, said that ether has shown a very modest growth over the past two months, only 20%.
The continued growth in interest in stablecoins and the increase in trading volume with them is also driven by their popularity at Yield Farming. Along with this, stablecoins, which have long become a “bridge” between the world of classical finance and the cryptosphere, also contribute to the rapid emergence of various CBDCs on the market.

Yield Farming meets institutional investors

Yield Farming has become a natural stage in the evolution of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. However, its further destiny, like all DeFi areas, is directly related to ensuring reliable cybersecurity. This is also important from the point of view of investors who invest in infrastructure: it’s a shame, for example, that the dForce platform faced the theft of $24 million in assets, having received $1.5 million in funding from investors a few days earlier.
In this connection, venture funds from Silicon Valley are being invested in the development of infrastructure for Yield Farming. So, ParaFi is investing $4.5 million in Aave, supporting a platform that offers instant cryptocurrency loans without collateral. These are high-risk transactions for the borrower, but it is important that Aave develops further. So, it has service integration with Uniswap. Moreover, Aave became the first DeFi protocol to work with the Tether stablecoin. Plus, the platform now offers a new product — credit delegation, when a depositor can lend their assets to a specific member of the platform in a collateral-free scheme. Both parties enter into a loan agreement, which, thanks to the integration of Aave with OpenLaw, allows such a contract to be securely stored on the blockchain. In fact, this is a real exit for DeFi with Yield Farming to the classic financial market, to work with institutional investors as well.
There is also a trend towards the integration of various platforms into DeFi, which thereby help each other grow. Thus, internal tokens and “synthetic” tokens (cTokens) Compound began to be used in Uniswap. And three projects at once — Synthetix, Curve and Ren — launched a joint pool providing liquidity in the form of tokenized bitcoins.
Also in a short period of time, insurance products targeted at Yield Farming members, such as Nexus Mutual, began to appear on the market. Now the Nexus Mutual team has insured assets in the amount of $8.5 million. Curve Finance is most interested in this opportunity ($1.6 million of assets are insured). Cryptocurrencies for an average of $700,000 are also insured on the Balancer, Compound, Aave and 1inch.exchange platforms.
Yield Farming, along with decentralized insurance products, confirms the opinion of analyst Chris Burniske, who emphasized that DeFi recreates all the elements that are found in classic finance, but on a new, innovative basis. So it cannot be said that Yield Farming is a short-term trend. This segment of the cryptosphere will continue to evolve despite the decline in net margin in it, as seen in the example of Compound.

Bitcoin Has Only Been Above $10,000 for 170 Days of Its History

Bitcoin has been above $10,000 before, but not for very long. In fact, the leading cryptocurrency has only been above $10,000 for less than half a year in its entire ten-year history.
Every time Bitcoin rises above $10,000, it feels like we’re in the waiting room. Will this be the moment it breaks above its all-time high? Analysts are positive, but we should also be mindful of the fact that Bitcoin has only been above $10,000 for a tiny fraction of its history.
$10,000 is definitely a milestone despite still being a long way away from Bitcoin’s all-time high of $20,000. The leading cryptocurrency has only been above this price point for 170 days since 2009.

Bitcoin Price Nears $12K Again as Gold Correlation Hits Record

Bitcoin (BTC) saw fresh gains on Aug. 6 as bulls refused to rest and the price steamed toward $12,000.

BTC price recovers $1,200 crash losses Data from Coin360 and Cointelegraph Markets showed #BTC/USD tackling $11,900 on Thursday, with 24-hour gains at 2.2%.
With barely any let-up, Bitcoin has recovered almost all its lost ground over the course of this week, just four days after it shed $1,200 in minutes after initially passing the $12,000 mark.
With its latest move, the largest cryptocurrency thus beat out resistance earmarked by analysts as the next hurdle for bulls.
“Essentially new resistance hit here after breaking $11,300-11,400,” Michaël van de Poppe reported on Twitter earlier on Thursday.
“Let's see how it goes from here.”
All eyes will be on the ability for bulls to flip the precarious $12,000 level into solid support, something which nonetheless came easily for $11,000 once resistance at $10,500 was broken.
Bitcoin realized correlation with gold hits all-time high Bitcoin “copying” gold to hit surprise price highs now has factual evidence as the realized correlation between the two assets reaches all-time highs.
Data from on-chain monitoring resource Skew confirmed the trend this week, with one-month realized correlation between gold and Bitcoin now at 67.1%.
The transformation has been impressive — just three weeks ago on July 20, a local low saw realized correlation hit -0.1%.
The intervening period has been marked by Bitcoin’s rapid gains in USD terms, following in gold’s footsteps several months after the precious metal began its own conspicuous climb.
At press time on Thursday, XAU/USD was at $2,065, its highest ever against the dollar, passing $2,000 despite analysts predicting the likelihood of such an event being just 30% this year.
Meanwhile, doubts are surfacing over Bitcoin’s continued correlation with stock markets. BTC was 95% correlated with the S&P 500, for example, but on Thursday, one analyst declared the relationship to be over.

Round up of Cryptocurrency News #3 Week 20/07 - 26/07

Pssst! Hey you. Scroll down for commentary!
Important/Notable/Highlights:
Special Mentions:
You haven't had enough news? Here is some more:
Speculation:
You made it! :)
First up, SORRY! This has been a late post, I have my reasons don't question them (if you must know I'll be posting in the discord - one time only haha). Secondly, I am sure you can agree with me when I say "Wow!" What an incredible week it has been. Last week I thought it was going to take a couple more weeks for more moving price action when it had only taken a few days which has seen Bitcoin reach and pass the $10,000 region. We have also seen the total Market cap for cryptocurrencies increase from about 280B to over 300B (308B at time of writing) within just a few days. A huge injection of liquidity, about 40B, into the market and just to name a few of the best rises in the top 20 (on Coinmarketcap.com), the price of ETH BTC ADA have given good performances/positive responses (With this I will start adding screenshots at the end of each week for timestamp purposes).
This may be a combination from Binance, Mastercard, Paypal, Grayscale investments, VISA AND the DEFI sector. Let me explain... Last week we read about Binance integrating with the company Swipe (SXP) to issue there own debit card expanding the use and reach of cryptocurrency to 31 countries within Europe. Binance's Q2 scheduled token burn of $60.5 Million, this figure correlates with its exchange, margin and futures trading platforms where approximately 20% of profits get burned to increase the price of BNB token (careful as the price has been steady after the burn).
This week we find out Mastercard's expansion into the Cryptosphere as they expand and integrate with the Wirex team to issue a Mastercard-backed Bitcoin debit card, thus further extending the reach of cryptocurrency availability internationally.
"The cryptocurrency market continues to mature and Mastercard is driving it forward, creating safe and secure experiences for consumers and businesses in today’s digital economy " "...Our work with Wirex and the wider crypto ecosystem is accelerating innovation and empowering consumers with more choice in the way they pay"
Mastercard is also reaching out to other emerging cryptocurrency firms to apply to become principal members [Partners] with Mastercard as they have relaxed their digital assets program and look to expand into the Digital Assets and Blockchain environment.
Paypals expression of interest in cryptocurrency facilitiation may bear fruits as it is said Paypal has partnered up with stablecoin operator Paxos (who is already in partnership with Revolut in the US) to facilitate trading through a cryptocurrency brokerage which will enable other firms to integrate cryptocurrency trading functionalities with them. In my opinion this looks much more promising than the Libra association they pulled out from last October as regulations.
Grayscale Investments clears regulatory hurdle as they have been given the green light for its Bitcoin Cash Trust (BCHG) and Litecoin Trust (LTCN) to be quoted in over-the-counter (OTC) markets by US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
“The Trusts are open-ended trusts sponsored by Grayscale and are intended to enable exposure to the price movement of the Trusts’ underlying assets through a traditional investment vehicle, avoiding the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping digital Bitcoin Cash or Litecoin directly.”
More green lights for Cryptocurrency in the US as regulators allow banks to provide cryptocurrency custody services (which may go further than just custody services). A little bit strange as it seems unnecessary and undermines one of the key factors and uses of cryptocurrency which is to be in complete control of your own finances... On another outlook this may be bullish as it allows US banks to provide banking services directly to lawful cryptocurrency businesses and show support for Bitcoin.
Visa shows support stating they have a roadmap for their further expansion into the Crypto sphere. Already working with Crypto platform Coinbase and Fold they have stated they recognise the role of digital assets in the future of money. To be frank, it appears to be focused on stable coins, cost effectiveness and transaction speeds. However they are expanding their support for crypto assets.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DeFI! Our very own growing section in crypto. Just like the 2017 ICO boom we are seeing exorbitant growth and FOMO into the Decentralised Finance sector (WBTC, Stablecoins, Yield farming, DEXs etc). The amount of active addresses on Ethereum has doubled but with the FOMO on their network have sky rocketed their fees! Large use-cases of stable coins such as USDT ($6B in circulation using ERC-20 standard), DAI, TUSD, and PAX. $114M Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) on their network acts as a fluid side chain for Bitcoin and DEX trade volume has touched $1.6B this month. With all this action happening on Ethereum I saw the 24HR volume surpass BTC briefly on Worldcoinindex.com
In other news, Bitcoin has been set as a new precedent in a US federal court in a case against Larry Dean Harmon, the operator of an underground trading platform Helix. Bitcoin has now legally been ruled as a form of money.
“After examination of the relevant statutes, case law, and other sources, the Court concludes that bitcoin is money under the MTA and that Helix, as described in the indictment, was an `unlicensed money transmitting business´ under applicable federal law.”
Quick news in China/Asia as floods threaten miners and the most dominant ASIC Bitcoin mining rig manufacturer Bitmain loses 10,000 Antminers worth millions alledgedly goes missing or "illegally transfered" with ongoing leadership dispute between cofounders.
Last but not least, Cardano (ADA) upgrade Shelley is ready to launch! Hardfork is initiated as final countdown clock is switched on. At time of writing the point of no return has been reached, stress tests done and confirmation Hardfork is coming 29/07 The Shelley Mainnet upgrade is a step toward fast, capable and decentralised crypto that can serve billions of people. With the Shelley Mainnet is ADA staking rewards and pools! Here is a chance for us Gravychainers to set up a small pool of our own. Small percentage of profits going into the development of the community, and you keep the rest!
If you read all of my ramblings thanks heaps! I appreciate it! I have added an extra piece of reading called speculation. Most you can speculate on by just reading the headline some others have more depth to them.
Another post next week for a weekly round up! Where do you think the market is going? What is in your portfolio? Let us know in the Gravychain Discord Channel

P.S.
Dr Seuss collectables on the blockchain HECK YEAH! and Bitcoin enters NASCAR, remember when Doge did this? it was like when Doge was trending on TikTok.
... Oh yeah did I also mention Steve Wozniak is suing Youtube, Google over rampant Bitcoin scams. Wait, what? Sydney based law firm JPB Liberty is suing Google, Facebook and Twitter for up to $300B. Just another day in the Cryptosphere.
